Leadership

pastor When a man’s love for God is demonstrated by his verbal appreciation of those around him, that man is deeply loved in return. Such a man is our Senior Pastor, Ben Andrus!

A native Texan, Ben dreamed from childhood of piloting a plane into the uncharted blue yonder.  Taking flying lessons after his senior year of high school, he soloed a Piper J3 Cub.  Concurrently with his graduation from Baylor University in 1968, he qualified as a distinguished military graduate and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Air Force.  Serving as a USAF pilot he flew the EC-121 Super Constellation airborne reconnaissance over Cape Cod, Iceland, and Vietnam. After the Vietnam War he flew a KC-135 Tanker as it refueled other aircraft in the air.

His life was transformed in 1965 when a college roommate introduced him to Jesus Christ. Through involvement in mission minded churches, Ben’s deep interest in missions was sparked. Subsequently, God called him into pastoral ministry. During graduate school he lead singing, taught Bible, and pastored a small church before being ordained in October 1974.  Ben joined the C&MA in 1975 and his ordination was affirmed by the C&MA.  He has served as Senior Pastor in C&MA churches in Manassas, VA, Ft. Worth, TX, Fairview Heights, IL, and now Longview, TX. Ben and his wife, Teresa, came to Hope Fellowship in 1997.

Pastor Ben graduated from Baylor University in 1968 with a BBA in Public Administration and Management. In 1975 he graduated from Columbia Bible Seminary with an MA in Bible. Since then he has pursued doctoral studies in Christian Counseling.

In 1968 Ben married Teresa. They have two children, Jennie (resides in Midvale, UT) and Jonathan (resides in St. Louis, MO), and four grandchildren.

Ben’s hobbies are hiking, camping, racquetball, and red vehicles. He loves to mentor men in their faith and has a deep commitment to missions. He considers Hope Fellowship a “sending church” where we train believers for ministry and send them out to serve. His style of preaching straight through a book of the Bible in a sermon series always speaks poignantly of the basics of our Christian faith and ministry, preparing us to serve others.

Pastor Ben Andrus, along with all the members of Hope Fellowship, welcome you to visit and discover for yourself the abundant life God has planned for you.
